Education for cultural decolonization: is an urgent need

The research highlights the importance of Education for Cultural Decolonization at the current time. From the system of imperialist domination, there is an avalanche against the culture of the most disadvantaged nations, supported by science, technology and innovation, a situation evidenced in the generation of colonization mechanisms. The challenges that cultural colonization poses to the training of educators have been insufficiently addressed, but it is a complex problem that requires solutions with a comprehensive and multifaceted approach from scientific research of great significance for the cultural sciences and the educational sciences. The main objective of the article is to propose some ways to confront this phenomenon of cultural colonization in the context of the capital of Cuba. As a result, the theoretical investigation on a topic of urgency in contemporary times is concluded, as well as the conclusions reached once preparation actions have been put into practice with teachers and education directors in Havana (Havana City). Above all, consensus has been achieved on the need for permanent improvement and updating, on adjusting the teaching of Civic Education, History and Political Culture to new times, on influencing the aesthetic taste of children, adolescents and young people, and on generating educational and cultural actions with deep ideological and humanistic content, that develop sensitivity and self-esteem.
