The present study addresses the problems derived from the insufficient professional preparation of grassroots union managers and the current challenges to perform their functions in improving the functioning of educational institutions in the Cuban context. This is a topic of relevant relevance, both in basic and specialized training, for the enhancement of the union practice of this agent. In the process of updating the economic and social model, it is necessary to transform union work from its political-ideological actions. All this imposes a new dynamic in the pedagogical work actions in union organizations. In this sense, greater integrity of the cadres and managers is sought in the effectiveness of their connection with the base, knowing the situation of each union section and to achieve this, their leaders must prioritize their continuous and permanent preparation. The creative leadership of the leaders, as well as their systematic updating in union, educational, economic, social, political and legal issues, becomes another decisive challenge. The intention of the study is to provide union managers in the educational context with the necessary tools and strategies to improve their leadership, negotiation and communication skills, in order to strengthen their ability to effectively represent workers by promoting a fair work environment. and equitable. Materials, techniques and methods are conceived recognizing primary sources and secondary sources. Academic documents were reviewed and interviews were conducted with union managers, education professionals and experts on the subject.
